April 2026…
Hi all,
This site, as you can see, is no longer updated. It exists as a record of my thoughts and ideas a decade or so ago. I am however, still very much active and in the same line of work, with more expertise and experience, so please do feel free contact me via the form, which still works! Everything else, apart from this paragraph, is historical.
My name is Jonathan Mitchell. I have been a primary school teacher since 1996 and have taught and led phases across Key Stage 1 and 2. I am currently employed at Winton Primary School in Bournemouth. I have always had a huge interest in how technology can enhance learning in the primary classroom. I currently teach computing from reception to year 6 and also spend much of my time using technology to enhance other curriculum areas, particularly English and mathematics.
I am a CAS master teacher attached to the South Coast Hub and spend one day per week engaged in consultancy and INSET.
My current areas of expertise are:
- Use of iPads in the classroom
- Use of blogging andĀ other resourcesĀ to enhance writing
- Delivery of the new computing curriculum, particularly the use of Scratch
- Design and construction of school websites – particularly with a ‘news’ focus
